Reading Specialists Offender Treatment Services ("RSOTS") maintains that sexual offense
is primarily premeditated, self-reinforcing criminal behavior
that impacts the victim, perpetrator, families and community.
For this reason, our treatment approach emphasizes
comprehensive assessment, family involvement and close
cooperation with the judicial system, child welfare and law
enforcement agencies.
 Our approach to the offender is respectful but firm and therapeutically confrontational when required. Above all, the expectation of personal responsibility and accountability are reinforced and expected in every phase of evaluation and treatment.
Our Interventions with the sexual offender are guided by the following principles:

Treatment must be directed at preventing further victimization

Legal accountability for offending behavior must be acknowledged and communicated

Evaluation must include a thorough assessment conducted by a therapist trained to work with sex offenders

Treatment in peer groups designed specifically for sex offenders is the preferred mode of intervention
Treatment programs should be staffed by persons trained to provide sex-offense specific interventions
Treatment may include a combination of individual, group and family therapy, depending on the needs and the circumstances of the offense

Emphasize the exploration of deviant sexual fantasy and it's role in sexual reoffense
Provide anger management and impulse control skills
Provide Basic sex education
Provide Relapse prevention techniques
Provide life skills and strategies to deal with distorted thinking patterns

practices by other sex offender treatment providers to the appropriate
